Nepenthes x ventrata is the best known Nepenthes species and also known as Nepenthes ventricosa x alata. The cups vary in colour, from red to green, and are elongated and narrow. After the first few generations of cups, this creeper will begin to swing and create other, smaller cups. The red cup can grow up to 15 cm tall with a distinct “belly”, neck and top with the flap. An easy species to grown. In summer, it can grow fine outside but cannot withstand temperatures below 14 degrees and will therefore have to go back inside in autumn. Give them a spot in the shade or semi-shade outside. Inside the house they will need plenty of light, but no bright sun. Water with rainwater or distilled water. They need to catch their own food, but if needed you could hand feed them. If the cups are dry when they arrive, we recommend to fill them up to a quarter with rainwater, just once.
