Sarracenia rubra (Sweet Pitcher Plant)

Sarracenia rubra ssp rubra has small brownish-green cup-shaped traps, which have red veins along the entire length of the trap. The traps are covered by a canopy to prevent rainwater from entering the trap. The plant also uses the lures from this canopy to attract insects, which it can digest. To stop the insects escaping, the trap has a smooth interior.
