Euphorbia tubiglans is a delightfully quirky succulent with a personality all of its own. Its upright, tubular stems grow in playful clusters, creating a miniature forest of green fingers that reach for the light. The surface of each stem is beautifully marked with faint ridges and a soft powdery coating that gives it a velvety texture. When it catches the sun, the plant can develop subtle pink or purple tones, adding a lovely touch of colour to its sculptural form.
Native to South Africa, Euphorbia tubiglans is perfectly suited to bright, dry conditions. It loves sunshine and well-draining soil, and it prefers to be watered sparingly. Let the compost dry out completely between waterings and reduce watering during the cooler months when it likes a rest. A little cactus feed in spring or summer will help it stay strong and healthy. Like all Euphorbias, it produces a milky sap when cut, so handle with care and avoid skin contact.
This charming species is ideal for adding texture and character to any plant collection. It looks fantastic on its own in a terracotta pot or mixed with other succulents for a playful contrast of shapes.
