Sarracenia leucophylla (White Pitcher)

This has to be the most elegant and striking species of Sarracenia. The White Pitcher has tall, beautifully shaped traps with white tops and red and green veining. There is some variation in the coloration at the top - some plants being a bright white with just a few subtle veins, others have a more subtle white with a blush of pink and deeper veining. They produce traps twice in the season, the later ones being larger and carrying on late into October - excellent for catching the wasps that can't seem to resist. the flowers are a deep red on long stems.
Ideal for a conservatory where it can make the most of the longer growing season. It is the parent of many colourful hybrids.
