Drosera prolifera (the Hen and Chicks sundew) is from tropical eastern Queensland. It has the peculiar habit of producing young plantlets form the end of its flower stalks, thus it can quickly colonise a larger container. This is a Sundew that will do well on a north facing windowsill in a terrarium or bottle garden, as it dislikes strong sunlight and likes a high humidity. Unlike the majority of Sundews, this plant really dislikes strong sunlight.
The leaves are round, reaching 10-15mm diameter, supported on a thin petiole. The leaf is highly mobile folding in half like a sandwich over it's prey. Grows well in living sphagnum moss or Supersphag.
